Walleye
Searchers of Minnesota
Activities
" Nobody ever went to his grave
wishing he would have fished less............!"
Monthly Meetings
Our club meets at 7 PM on the
first Monday of the month at:
Elk’s Club (Old Bon’s
Buffet ) 1652 Hwy 52 N. Hillcrest shopping Center
Rochester,
MN
Ring the bell by the door to
be let in. At the meetings we plan activities and learn where the current "hot
bite" is. Occasionally, we have guest speakers and the DNR gives us a yearly
update on Pool 4 walleyes & sauger. Club members also give talks about various
topics related to fishing. We openly share fishing knowledge, make new friends
and promote fishing. You will also receive a monthly "Tacklebox" newsletter.
There is usually a fishing trip in the works that one of the members is
planning. Annual club dues are $25.
Club Tournaments
There is no charge for club
members to fish the eight club tournaments, although the non-boater pays the
boater $20. The top three teams of each tournament receive plaques, plus we have
year end plaques for the best fishermen. Partner pairing is done by random
selection and you do not need to own a boat. All tournaments start at 7:30 AM
and end at 3:30 PM. Each team can weigh-in five walleye/sauger over 15" at the
end of the day. We usually have a cookout after most tournaments where we swap
stories about the big ones that got away. At our tournaments you will learn how
to improve your fishing skills, make friends and have fun. Tournament locations
are decided at the meeting before each tournament so they will be close to where
the fish are biting.
Spring Seminar
We have either local or
professional speakers put on a free public walleye catching
seminar in March. In 2004 Keith Kavajecz gave an excellent seminar to a full
house of interested anglers. In 2005 Scott Fairbairn had a solid presentation
on the cornerstones of walleye success. In 2006 Daryl Christensen spoke to a
full room of local anglers about river fishing tactics. 2007 featured Jason
Halfen and Lenny Jamison sharing pool 4 secrets. This year the featured speaker
will be Tim Hutchinson.
Bring A Friend
This tournament is to show
nonmembers what club tournaments are like.
Family Fun Day
Family fishing with
emphasis on "fun" for the kids. There is a short tournament where we weigh all
the fish (any species) a boat can catch. After the tournament we have a cookout.
